Time for Baby Boomers to Catch Up
Look at the content of books on the generational differences in the workplace, and most of the advice for individual workers is for millenials , genX and genY to conform to the current culture of the organization or “the way we do things around here”. Conversely, the advice to the organization is to conform to the needs and work style of the younger generation.
The organization will never be able to change if the individuals in that organization don’t change. It is time for the baby boomers or anyone with the longer history to adapt to the changes that the younger workers are bringing in. The faster that the individuals in the company can do this, the faster the organization will make the change. All indications suggest that this agility is what the successful companies will look back and say was their key to success.
